I originally envisaged a vertical stack with a pusher feeding draughts
from the bottom, but fischertechnik, like all construction systems, has
its own standard dimensions
and I couldn't see any sensible way to adapt
these to the small draughts I had available so I opted for a chute.
The chute is 30mm wide - the length of a standard fischertechnik building block - which is wider than the draughts, so they settle into a zig-zag pattern. This is not a problem until they get to the bottom, where it can result in a draught being pushed off the platform by the draughts above it. For this reason, the chute is made narrower at the bottom, forcing the draughts to line up neatly and wait their turn.
